4) How successful was the script and 9 key frames in achieving the aims?
1) The purpose of the script was to create either a disruption or resolution scene for the independent film I've been studying. I decided to do a disruption scene for the dystopian reboot of Moonrise Kingdom. The script relates to my MACRO study into how the representation of childhood is both altered and conformed to. I explore the idea of a world with no adults and how these never-ageing thirteen year olds have to fend for themselves in a broken society where pharmaceutical drugs are the exchange for resources. The purpose of my 9 key frames was to narrate which parts of my scene/script was most relevant and relatable to my MACRO - the representation of childhood being altered and how the kids are eager to grow up and take care of themselves. I was able to show this through costume, location, props, lighting and cinematography.
2) I though very carefully about the costumes my characters would wear in my 9 key frames so that it related to my script and textual analysis. I originally wanted my female character to wear all white to symbolise innocence, purity and vulnerability, but because of the dystopian elements to my reboot and the situation involved in the script, I decided the female character should wear white on her top half and her bottom half should be black to suggest mystery, trouble and rebellion. I chose for the main male character to wear all black to suggest rebellion and trouble. This links to my MACRO by showing that children conform to the stereotype of being rebellious which is also shown through the dialogue in my script via their "illegal" meeting and conversation. I used a variety of camera angles in my 9 key frames to show the situation from different points of view; I used a few wide angle shots to demonstrate my characters being inferior and powerless - this helps relate to my MACRO in the representation of childhood being conformed to. I also colour graded my 9 key frames to help the pictures look more dystopian which is one of the main themes in my script/reboot.
3)The location report helped construct my 9 key frames in a very positive way. In my script i wrote about how I needed an open field for one of the scenes and was able to find an accessible one in Stone. Taking he pictures of my chosen location and all the different camera angles i decided to use helped shape my 9 key frames because it gave me a clearer idea of how I want my characters my positioned if i wanted to portray them in the way intended in my MACRO study. Using the downstairs hall/basement of a church in Greenwich for part of my 9 key frames was helpful because it helped me get an accurate representation of an underground world and a dystopian theme. The location report helped me plan how I would bring my script to a visual and which aspects would work and which aspects wouldn't.
4) The script was successful in achieving my MACRO by portraying young teenagers taking on adult characteristics via being dependent on themselves and handling the business of drug trades and exchanges. The script also helped achieve my aims and points included in my textual analysis through the actions of characters
